Eastwell Church

Description

Eastwell Church, located in Kent, was founded in the 12th century, originally serving a rural community. It was expanded over time, with a notable 14th-century tower added. The church remained an important local landmark for centuries, catering to the nearby village of Eastwell. By the 19th century, however, the surrounding area began to experience population decline as people moved to towns for work, and the church’s attendance shrank. The rise of other churches in nearby areas further diminished its role, and by the early 20th century, the church was struggling to stay relevant. After officially closing in the 1960s, Eastwell Church fell into disrepair. By the 1980s, the building was largely in ruins, and the site was deconsecrated. Today, only remnants of the church remain, serving as a quiet reminder of its once-important place in the local community.
